West Country Equine Fair 5th – 6th December 2015

Here’s our latest blog from Equine Feed Adviser, Rachel Hornby, following last weekend’s West Country Equine Fair in Devon:

“The West Country Equine Fair marks the end of the show season for us, but also the start of Christmas festivities, so its arrival is a bitter-sweet event.

Debbie, National Sales Manager, and I arrived on Friday morning to set up the trade- stand.  There is always a lovely atmosphere at this event and this year was a particularly colourful set-up day with an amazing array of Christmas jumpers being modelled by various members of staff from other trade-stands.   Our trade-stand soon began to take shape and the Christmas poinsettia took pride of place on the desk.

Saturday had a sedate start but the crowds soon arrived and could be found clustered around the main ring watching the fantastic demonstrations which included a ‘Three-Day-Eventing Master Class’ by Sir Mark Todd. They were also able to enjoy the huge variety of exhibitor stands, many of which were adorned with Christmas lights.   The fair gives a welcome opportunity to partake in an equine-related event without the extreme mud and wet weather encountered by so many horse owners recently.

Sunday was another great day and we were busy from the moment the doors opened.  We had many visits from our lovely stockists and the day soon flew by as we talked to customers old and new.   There was a brief lull late afternoon giving us a chance to enjoy a well-earned cup of coffee and a piece of Christmas cake very kindly provided by Penny who had joined us for the weekend to assist on the trade- stand.  The cheers and frivolity coming from the indoor arena indicated that the Pony Club show-jumping competition was coming to an intense end and so was the show.

We were soon heading home, participating in our Sunday night Christmas post-event tradition of listening to our favourite Michael Buble Christmas CD.

Thank-you so much to those of you who visited the stand and helped to make this event another memorable one.  We wish you and your equine friends a fantastic Christmas.’
