Spencer’s Latest Blog – February 2016

The past few months have been quiet on the competition front for me. We didn’t have a particularly good end to the season, which was disappointing since it started so well in La Baule. But since then we’ve made a few changes and put a lot of hard work into training and hopefully that will pay off this year.

Henfield, West Sussex…

The new yard

The new yard

In October I was made an offer from a new owner to move to a yard in West Sussex and ride a few of his horses. After much consideration and visiting the new yard, I made the decision to move. So in November we packed up our yard and most of my horses and moved from Lincolnshire down to Henfield. It took the horses (and me) a little time to get used to the change but we have been there for just over two months now and they are settling in fine.

Getting settled in

The past two months I have spent getting to know the new horses I am riding (I’ll let you know all about them soon) and preparing my youngsters who are now five-year-old horses for their first international show.

Next time…

I now find myself on a ferry from Portsmouth heading to the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera. We are taking seven horses with us, including a few youngsters, and will be competing out there until the end of March. I compete out there every year as it’s a great show to get my horses back into jumping and it’s good experience for my younger horses. I’ll let you all know how I’m doing on social media and in my next blog.

Until next time,

Spencer
